Calling all super heroes, princesses, pirates, monsters, and all creatures alike....You are invited to join me in this fun one-time class as we show off our costumes during Costume Show and Tell. Students will get to show off their costumes and socialize with their peers. Students will be given a template to design their own costume and we will take turns sharing our designs with the group. I am a Kindergarten teacher so I know the importance of sustaining a high energy throughout class in order to engage my learners. Have more costumes to share...so do I!!! This one-time course can be taken as many times as you would like and with a constant change of costumes, it will NEVER get old! We will have so much fun together as we imagine, pretend and socialize together.

Texas Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
My name is Amy and I have been a certified public school teacher for 17 years. I spent my first 9 years teaching Prekindergarten and the past 8 years teaching kindergarten! Teaching has always been my passion and I have even spent the last 3.5 years building relationships and teaching students in China how to read and speak English. My love for teaching our younger learners to read and write runs deep. I have been trained in the Science of teaching reading, in the balanced literacy model as well as spent countless hours in professional development trainings to enhance my effectiveness as a teacher. I was nominated for "Teacher of the year" in 2 of the districts I have taught in as well as voted top 3 teachers in my county in a "Best of Parker County" contest. In February 2022, I was surprised with the honor of representing my school district in Aledo ISD as as Exemplary Teacher and received an award at Weatherford College called the "Jack Harvey Exemplary Teacher Award". I believe that it is important that students have a strong foundation of phonemic awareness and phonological skills in order to develop into strong readers. I will be teaching students using the program "Really Great reading" as well as teaching fun supplemental classes such as storybook stem, "HEART" word practice, and interactive holiday themed classes.
Aside from being a certified public educator, I have also spent the last 15 years working in youth ministry with my husband. We helped to challenge and equip our teenagers with life skills that would help them to be successful. I have taught many classes at the Encounter summer camp on topics pertaining to beauty and finding your true identity and purpose. My goal is to create classes on outschool to help girls not just in my community, but beyond realize that they are not alone and there are people who care and I want to create a safe space for girls to thrive in an environment with their peers.
Fun Fact: I began playing the trumpet in 5th grade and I can still play to this day. I even started a teacher band at my school. We play for students during the holidays and at the end of the year awards.
