Class Experience

Mission: In 2030, there was an outbreak that turned people into zombies. Rumour has it that this phenomenon started at Project Montauk from a secret laboratory experiment that went wrong. You receive a secret message from your captain saying they have found the antidote. However, mysteriously, the team has gone missing and the captain is the only one left at the crash site, near Area 31. Now it's your mission to get the antidote, and save your captain and the world.

In this 360° virtual escape room, learners will choose their own adventure experience. Leaners will make decisions at each turn during the mission that will impact their experience. As members of the best Zombie Hunting Unit, each decision will have varying consequences. You and your team have to stop an zombie invasion and defuse an underground base before detonation, which will be in under two hours. Therefore, time is of the essence.

Good luck!

During the game, learners will have audio and video clips to guide them throughout the game. Puzzles will vary for cryptograms, morse code, jigsaw and word searches. This class is very immersive and will test learners' ability to problem solve and decision making based on context clues. No previous experience or knowledge of the military is required, as the final result will vary based on the learners own choices. Learners will need to work collaboratively and solve puzzles that include: basic math equations, mapping coordinates, math transformations, word patterns, jigsaw puzzles, and word ciphers.

Learners who enjoy sci-fi themes would enjoy this experience. This would be great for private events/birthdays for teens. Please contact me for more information on that. Due to the level of difficulty, as well as the use of a third party site, the recommended age for this class is 13 and up. Parental consent will be required for younger learners upon special request. Please see the Parental Guidance section for more on that.

Parental Guidance
While there are references to the military, zombies and aliens, there are no graphic or scary images in the game. There are no weapons or violence involved in the game. There are sound clips of intense music and growls in the room, but nothing visual. Safety and privacy are our top priorities. Learners under 13 will need to have Parental Consent when accessing those links on Thinglink to comply with COPPA. Students will be provided with a direct code to access the game link, and will bypass any registration or sign-ins for Thinklink as I have a Professional Teacher License through the service to use the platform as a teaching tool. Therefore, learners will not need to provide any information or sign up for the platform themselves. In fact, students will be provided with a link that restricts them from having to share any personal information or sign in, as the game will appear on their screen without an interface. However, parental consent will be required to comply with COPPA. As per the terms of usage, all students accessing the Service are subject to consent provided via their educator or educational institution, as allowed under COPPA, and will require the use of a unique invitation code supplied by their instructor or education institution in order to create an account or access the platform. Any use or access to the Service by anyone under 13 without Consent, is strictly prohibited and in violation of this Agreement.

Greetings Outschool Family!

My name is Dwitney Bethel! I would describe myself as a vivacious and effervescent free spirit! I am originally from Nassau, Bahamas, but I consider myself a North American, as I spent nearly a decade in both the United States and Canada respectively. Although, of all of the places I have either lived or traveled through, my favorite is by far Japan! There is something timeless and magical about a place that embodies both the past and future at the same time.

I offer both private and public sessions! So if you are looking for afterschool programs, birthday games, or private sessions, feel free to message me with your inquiry.

In terms of my personal experiences, I have a background in History, Creative Writing, and Globalization Studies. I have a Bachelor of Honours in History and Development Studies, an M.A. in Public History, as well as an M.A. in Globalization Studies. I worked as a teaching assistant throughout my graduate studies, and mentored ESL students as well! I had always imagined myself teaching English abroad until I made the decision to become an entrepreneur and work for myself! I recently graduated from a Business and Entrepreneurship program, as I wanted to become a business owner and start my own company. My company offers team building games as well as heritage, tourism and cultural experiences, and that is what I hope to bring here! Therefore, I will offer an array of courses in the upcoming weeks from a very interdisciplinary perspective! I will bring gameshow style classes to traditional subjects such as history, global politics, geography, and anthropology.
I also hope to have some creative writing and book club combination courses dealing with subjects such as Immigration, Minority Studies and Feminine Identity using historical fiction for middle school and young adults. I will also feature some interactive escape room and thriller mystery games sets as well!
I was never a student who could fit into one discipline, as I just had a love and interest in almost everything! Interdisciplinary studies changed my life, and that is the approach I hope to bring here! I hope I can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning.
