Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 9
The annual Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Product Development Conference was off to a great start. It was being hosted at the Florida Hotel and Conference Center in Orlando. The famous R&D company, Vanderby, Kent, and Williams, was about to announce to the world its sustainable fuel made from plants that could fuel any car on the market. They were set make billions with this "completely green," inexpensive technology. The day of their presentation arrived and Timothy Vanderby was nowhere to be found.

The class will beginning with discovering the full backstory of the mystery. After that, clues will be shared from the investigation that commenced upon the discovery of the body. In between clues there will be chances to share and ask questions. Put on your detective hat and see if you have what it takes to solve the tragic murder of Timothy Vanderby.

I have always been very curious and creative and I love to inspire it in kids (both my own and others) as well. I like to teach through projects, which give students a choice on the way they learn and show their understanding. I also love to teach through games and like to combine game elements in my classes.

I believe history, studied in context, to be extremely important. In fact, it's one of our best teachers. The other "subject" I believe to be of high importance is Logic. Unfortunately, logic has long been left off most curriculums. Knowing how to examine events and history through logical thinking and analysis gives us a deep, true understanding of our world.

I'm a big believer in every parent having all the need to school their children all the way through high school. So, if you are ever in doubt, let me encourage you.

My educational consulting company, It's A Potsick Education, exists to build up curious, creative learners. I do custom content/lesson design, private, online events, consulting, and more. Message me for anything you need.

I was a classroom teacher in the public schools for over 15 years and, for the past 14 years, have been helping my wife homeschool as well. I currently hold state certifications in Florida (certificate # 960883) in the areas of Middle Grades Social Science and Language Arts and Elementary Education. I have extensive classroom experience with all Elementary and Middle Grades subject content and have done private tutoring for many years in Math, Civics, Science, and Language Arts.
