This one-time class looks as the life and times of Soviet spy Aldrich Ames. It examines his life and education during the early Cold War, his career within the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and the lives and careers of the team who uncovered his espionage. Also, the end of the Cold War, and the continued unraveling of Soviet Espionage today is examined.

Especially noted is the work of the CIA agents who exposed Ames, as it was a team comprised of, and led by women. Previous spy cases did not involve female agents to such an extent, and signals a growing number of women in the workforce. 

This class is lecture-discussion based with the instructor delivering a lecture with an accompanying powerpoint. Slide images include maps, people involved in the story, and statistics. Students are encouraged to ask any questions during the lecture. Prior knowledge of the Cold War is beneficial, but not necessary for this class.

Late Policy: Learners are expected to arrive to class at the scheduled class time. The instructor will wait 10 minutes after the start of class to admit learners. Any learner who arrives later than 10 minutes will not be permitted to enter the class and will not be issued a refund.
