The Magic of Multimedia: Storytelling Through Video for Kids
Craft compelling stories and bring them to life using video! Through interactive lessons and hands-on assignments, they’ll explore storytelling fundamentals, master smartphone video creation, and gain editing skills with free apps.

Beginner Level
Course Outline: • Week 1: Basics of Storytelling – Characters, Plot, and Theme • Week 2: How to Use Your Smartphone for Video Creation • Week 3: Editing Basics with Free Apps (like iMovie or CapCut) • Week 4: Sharing Your Story – Presentation Skills and Platforms Key Features: Interactive lessons, fun assignments, and student projects shared at the end. How I Will Structure the Class • Introduction (5-10 minutes): I will introduce the week’s topic, show examples, and explain key concepts. • Interactive Lesson (20-25 minutes): I’ll guide students through hands-on activities like creating characters or shooting video clips. This may include live demonstrations or step-by-step explanations. • Discussion and Q&A (10 minutes): Students will share their thoughts, ask questions, and engage with each other about the concepts learned. • Wrap-Up and Assignment (5-10 minutes): I’ll assign a project or homework for the week, recap what’s learned, and prepare students for the next lesson. How I Will Teach • I’ll use a hands-on approach, guiding students through each step in the process of storytelling and video creation. • Live demonstrations will show how to shoot and edit video, so students can follow along in real time. • Slides and visual aids will help clarify the concepts and keep the class engaging. • Interactive projects will encourage students to apply what they’ve learned, whether it’s writing their story, filming, or editing a clip. • Real-life examples will be used to show how multimedia storytelling is used by professionals and creatives. What’s My Teaching Style? My teaching style is supportive and engaging, focusing on making the learning process fun and interactive. I believe in hands-on learning, allowing students to experiment with what they’re learning right away. I also encourage collaboration, where students share their ideas and work together. I’ll make sure to keep things approachable and creative, helping students build their confidence as storytellers and filmmakers. How Much Will Learners Get to Interact with Me? • Lecture and Demonstrations: Each class will start with a brief lecture (10-15 minutes) explaining the key concepts, followed by a live demonstration of the tools we’ll be using. • Interactive Discussions: After the demonstration, students will get to ask questions and discuss the topic. We’ll also have group discussions about storytelling and video creation to spark creative ideas. • Games/Activities: I’ll incorporate storytelling games where students create characters or plot twists together, fostering creativity and collaboration. • Hands-On Projects: Each week will have a project assignment, where students will apply what they’ve learned and share their progress with the group. • Video Clips and Examples: I’ll show video clips from popular media or student work to highlight key techniques and inspire the class. Overall, students will be engaged in active learning through discussions, demonstrations, and creative projects, with plenty of opportunities for them to interact and get feedback from me.
