In this class we will learn about the Maasai Tribe by reading the picture book 'Masai and I', discuss their traditions using real life artefacts from the Maasai village, and draw our own Boma village.

In this class we will learn about the Maasai Tribe by reading the picture book 'Masai and I'. This book is about a girl in New York City who compares her urban life with the lives of the Maasai people who live on the open plains of the East African savannah. We will learn about their dress, customs, diet and livelihoods and I will share some real life artefacts from the Maasai boma village from my time spent there. We will also learn about how these warriors went from being lion killers to lion protectors and the role they play in wildlife conservation today. We will end the session by drawing our own Boma village.
