In this 12-week course, students will be exploring Agatha Christie's most popular work, And Then There Were None. They will learn about the elements that make up a mystery, themes, symbols and motifs of the work, and Christie's history.

Class experience

US Grade 5 - 7
Students will be reading And Then There None by Agatha Christie.
They will learn about Agatha Christie's life and her use of foreshadowing.
They will learn about the themes, motifs and symbolism found the book.
Students will learn to pay close attention to these themes, motifs and symbolism while reading the book.
I have training in suicide awareness and follow the guidelines for depicting suicide in media as recommended by suicide.org.
I have a Bachelor's degree in English, which includes courses in identifying and understanding themes, motifs and symbols in various forms of writing.
Homework Offered
Student are required to complete reading assignments. They have a week to complete it. It should take 30 minutes to an hour depending on the student's reading ability.

And Then There Were None is a murder mystery. Even though nothing is too detailed, there are multiple deaths in the chapters and deaths alluded to in the characters past. Suicide is also mentioned in the book, but the deaths not fully detailed.
The book was also written in 1939 and may have outdated views about race or gender. Your child is less likely to read these if they have a newer copy of the book. I don't focus on these in the class, but they are in the book.
