We will learn that the brain controls every part of our body. It tells the body how to react to situations. In this class, we will explore the gustatory body system and the sense of taste. We will discover how taste can effect our moods. Learners will explore ways we can use this system to recognize positive and negative reactions. The focus of the class will be directed toward emotion regulation and how we can use our five senses to help ourselves self-regulate. The class will be structured by introducing ourselves, going over the online presentation with discussion throughout the class. We will then have an in class activity to explore the learners likes and dislikes. My teaching style is hands on and discussion is welcome. This is one of a six part series of the five senses to help build a tool box of coping skills.

My most important accomplishment is that I home schooled my two children from grades 7 to graduation. My work experience includes teaching for over twenty years in different settings. I managed a program as a computer assisted instructor for five years in a middle school setting. This program blossomed into a large program to help more struggling students academically. In the last 15 years, I managed and directed crisis homes for children and adults with a wide range of challenges. I have spent many years helping individuals overcome mental and physical challenges. I see each person as unique. My strength is finding ways to develop tools that will improve ones daily life. I enjoy helping others develop coping skills to help make a dark day brighter. I do not see people as a one size fits all! My passions range from art, cooking, reading, math, and, natural health! I enjoy learning how things work. I am a hands on experiential learner which is the way I prefer to teach. I hope to see you in the classroom!
