Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
In this 7 week flex class, we will examine the History of Aircraft that have been used in military service. We will focus mostly on aircraft used by the United States Armed Forces, however we will also take time to focus on some of the more famous and well-known aircraft used by other countries during wars and conflicts. We will learn about these aircraft, their purpose and usage, their successes and/or failures. We will trace the evolution of military aircraft by walking along the historical timeline of the wars and conflicts that have occurred and how these aircraft have played a role in the outcomes of these conflicts. While we will discuss a large number of military aircraft that have been used, we are simply unable to cover and discuss "every" aircraft ever used. In addition to the class time that will be conducted using lecture, open discussion, student-led topics, and relevant videos, the teacher will also utilize the Outschool classroom for posting of various questions and assignments for students to complete, as well as trying to foster student interaction and discussion on the topics that have been or will be discussed during class time.

Throughout the course of the class, student will get have several assignments in the hope of fostering both student-student and student-teacher interaction, as well as to further student understanding on our topics.

The schedule of topics by week is as follows:

Week 2: The rapid advancement of aircraft between the world wars, aircraft of the Axis Powers during World War 2.
