What is Memorial Day? Why do we have this holiday? In this class, learners will learn the history of Memorial Day. We will begin class by discussing what students know about Memorial Day. We will then learn the history of Memorial Day, when it started, how it has changed, and how we honor our fallen soldiers. The students will look at a presentation with pictures and be able to discuss them throughout class. We will also discuss why we should not say "Happy Memorial Day" and ways that we can honor our fallen soldiers. At the end of class the students will discuss what they have learned about Memorial Day and ask any questions that they may have.

Parental Guidance
There will be pictures of a cemetery with flags and a casket with a flag. I will not show any pictures of fallen soldiers.
