Join along as we learn the history of one of our national holidays, Memorial Day.  We will use slides, photos, videos, and storytelling to explore the origins of Memorial Day, from small community gathers to the first large observance at Arlington National Cemetery.  We will learn about why the nation needed national cemeteries and memorials after the Civil War.  We will also explore more modern celebrations on this day.  The class will end with a trivia game all about this special holiday.

Parental Guidance
This class will include mentions of war and the number of people that died during the Civil War and other American wars. It will also include images and discussions of national cemeteries. We will use Nearpod as an outside resource. Learners will receive a link during class and will not need to log in to the site.
