In the culinary industry, the heart of a restaurant is its kitchen! In this course, students will venture into the heart of their own homes to cook delicious meals that can be served to the people they love the most. This course is great for after school students, homeschool students, or students that will enjoy learning to cook online while moving at their own pace. Learning to cook provides an excellent opportunity for your student to develop essential life skills. Cooking requires reading recipes, measuring ingredients, and managing time efficiently, all of which enhance a child’s math and reading skills, as well as their ability to follow instructions and manage their time. These are critical skills that will serve them well beyond the kitchen. Additionally, cooking is a hands-on activity that can boost self-confidence. The sense of accomplishment children feel when they successfully prepare a meal can be incredibly empowering, nurturing their self-esteem and encouraging them to take on new challenges. The dishes in this course have been chosen with beginner students and intermediate students in mind. Most of the dishes are planned seasonally so that your student will be able to use fresh and in-season ingredients. Your student will not only learn delicious cooking, but ways to make dinner healthier too.
