This one-time class is the tiny building block version of an escape room where students will use their creativity and blocks to build their way out of the Grinch's lair and save the holidays from his clutches.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be inside the Grinch's cave? Follow along on this wonderfully Dr. Seuss inspired rhyme story as you think of a way to stop the Grinch from stealing any of the winter holidays! You can use your building bricks to save the day! (I am using the word holidays and keeping that non-specific so that all students feel welcome.) This escape room concept will have students use their brick collection to creatively build items that could help them get out of a series of events. The scenario is a pretend story and students will follow along and build at certain moments, prompted with a building challenge from the teacher. These builds are considered quick builds and would last approximately 1-10 minutes each. An example would be: You need to help return all of the holiday gifts to the children, so build a vehicle that can hold all of the presents. Once the series of guided builds are completed, the students will discover if they've saved the day and helped the Grinch's heart grow a few sizes just in time for the holiday season! This class does not use any virtual site nor any outside website links; it is a creative thinking spin on the escape room concept. My teaching style is described as friendly, creative, and fun but structured.
