Intermediate - Advanced Level
In this class, students will learn the five elements of a well-developed paragraph. We will examine model paragraphs. Students will be introduced to topic sentences, supporting details that directly relate to the topic sentence, and concluding sentences. Students will identify the parts of a paragraph. After class, students will write a well-developed paragraph that contains: 1. One controlling idea 2. Sentences clearly related to topic sentence 3. Logical order 4. Thoroughly developed examples/evidence 5. Closing sentence that restates the main idea Students will be given options for their paragraph writing prompt. Students will need pen/pencil and paper for class. I prefer for all paragraph assignments to be typed, but handwritten copies are allowed as well.
