I graduated from Baltimore International College with my culinary degree, and I have been in the food industry as a professional for over 20 years. I have been teaching for almost 11 years now, both to home cooks and to future culinary professionals. I am a mentor in the City of Baltimore and have taught at recreational schools, Culinary Schools, and at my alma mater, Baltimore City College. I teach in-home and on Zoom. I have cooked in both restaurants in our busy Baltimore Inner Harbor and catering companies. I have also been the Assistant Executive Chef of country clubs, and retirement and health care communities. I have run recreational cooking programs, and regularly do private chef work. I have supervised over 15 people at a time in a professional kitchen environment. Cooking is not difficult, and with proper guidance and encouragement, can be an amazing experience! I earned my Associate's degree in Professional Cooking and Baking from Baltimore International College. I also have a current ServSafe certificate. I have worked as a chef, culinary instructor, cook, and caterer. I currently teach and offer private in-home fine dining lessons. I am currently teaching online cooking classes. I am passionate about giving back to the community and volunteering whenever possible. I cook for the homeless once a month along with my teenage son and the help of various volunteers. I am a mentor at my alma mater teaching young people the value in culinary arts and health eating. During the pandemic I taught on Zoom. I have been teaching kids for 8-10 years. I hope to inspire your kids to enjoy cooking as much as I have inspired others. I have worked as a chef, culinary instructor, cook, and caterer. I want people to understand that even if you're not in a professional kitchen, you can still produce high quality impressive dishes from the comfort of your home. Food connects us all. It a life source and in some cases a love language. Teaching allows me to create a fun but very informative environment where people can create expressive art, regardless of age or skill. I welcome ages 8-18 and all skill levels to attend my cooking classes and learn what it takes to be a chef or to become passionate about cooking. No one gets left behind in my classes. Everyone learns differently so I make sure I can give everyone individual attention and feedback. But most importantly I want my students to join my classes to have fun and learn skills they will always remember from a trained professional chef. Aside from food, I am an avid reader, I love all things black history, and I have 2 dogs (Courage and Cardi) and 2 cats( Apple an Scallop) who I love very dearly. I even cook dog food for my little wolfers :) My number one goal is to travel around the world to historical places and learn more about cuisines. Hope you guys can join me!
Pots sauté pan knives tongs wisk cutting board cutting glove adult supervision
Adult supervision will be required due to the use of sharp objects and hot kitchen appliances. Along with adult supervision the purchase of a cutting glove will maximize safety while using any sharp objects in the kitchen. I strongly suggest using a wooden cutting board to prevent any items moving or slipping while cutting on the board. To ensure the safety of all students, it is important that each student is comfortable and understands each objective and the proper way to execute before moving on. Allergies in these recipes: egg, wheat, soy, shellfish, fish (some modifications can be made, but not all can be accommodated)
