Class Experience

In this class, learners will continue their piano studies through music theory. Designed to work with The Creative Musician: Piano Lessons using the Faber and Faber Level One Music Theory workbook, this class goes more in-depth with the theory they learn through their music. We will learn about the treble and bass clefs, all the notes of the Grand Staff, measures, rhythm patterns, counting, intervals, scales, and chords.

This class is taught in English.

Learners will learn all the notes on the Grand Staff, how to count different rhythms, the intervals of 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th, five-finger scales, and how to play 2 and 3 finger chords.

I earned my degree in music composition, which is applied music theory.

During class, I will teach through pages in their workbook. We will work through as many of the activities as we can, and any we are not able to finish they will be assigned to complete on their own and show me at the beginning of the next class.

Learners will need a new copy of the Faber and Faber Piano Adventures Level One Theory Book, available here and on Amazon: https://pianoadventures.com/publications/piano-adventures-level-1-theory-book-2nd-edition/

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

20 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.

We will use Faber and Faber's Piano Adventures Level One theory workbook in class.
