Prepare for a spine-tingling journey into the dark and mysterious world of Edgar Allan Poe with our guided reading class on “The Cask of Amontillado”! Students will delve into the sinister plot, uncovering the chilling tale of revenge and betrayal that unfolds in the eerie catacombs. Through dramatic reenactments we’ll explore Poe’s masterful use of irony, foreshadowing, and gothic elements. By experiencing this short story as a performance, learners have the opportunity to better understand it given that many of Poe's short stories were written to be heard not necessarily just read.  The self paced lesson is broken into four smaller sub lessons with discussion questions and some vocabulary highlights.

Parental Guidance
Parents should note that the guided reading is directed towards a middle school reading level and experience. However, it does involve some graphic elements that are not overly discussed in class, but are present.
