Description
Class Experience
Learners will learn about Camille Saint-Saens and one of his most famous pieces, The Carnival of the Animals, through in-class lecture. They will learn important musical terminology, such as "orchestration", "mood", and "tempo". As a class, we will listen to some movements of The Carnival of the Animals and talk about how Saint-Saens' depicts different animals through his music. Learners will be encouraged to participate in in-class discussion where we will practice using new musical terminology.
As a classically trained musician, I am always searching for ways to introduce young learners to classical music and combining fun topics is the perfect way to teach music appreciation! Camille Saint-Saen's "The Carnival of the Animals" is an excellent tool for teaching musical terminology and music listening to young learners. It is a piece I have loved since childhood and I cannot wait to share my love of it with your learners!
