What is a balanced breakfast? In this course your student will learn how to cook or bake breakfast dishes (sometimes seasonal) while following a recipe. Your student will learn what they can do to their breakfast to make it balanced so they can have a great start to their day! Cooking requires reading recipes, measuring ingredients, and managing time efficiently, all of which enhance a child’s math and reading skills, as well as their ability to follow instructions and manage their time....

Week 1Lesson 1Baked Cinnamon French ToastIn this lesson your student will learn how to make a casserole version of French Toast. Your student will also learn about what makes a balanced breakfastWeek 2Lesson 2Fluffy Scrambled Eggs, Breakfast BurritoIn this lesson students will learn how to cook fluffy scrambled eggs and then use that to create a delicious breakfast burrito.Week 3Lesson 3Homemade Waffles with CompoteAlmost all kids enjoy waffles and in this lesson students will learn how to make it from scratch. Students will also learn how to make a fruit compote to top their homemade waffles.Week 4Lesson 4Blueberry MuffinsStudents will enjoy baking up these muffins that can be added to any breakfast meal. Students are encouraged to give some ideas what they can eat with their blueberry muffin for a complete breakfast.Week 5Lesson 5Mini Vegetable FrittataStudents will learn to make mini vegetable frittatas that they can take to eat on the go!Week 6Lesson 6Avocado Toast and Fried EggsAvocado toast is still trendy and your student will learn how to make it on their own. Students will also learn how to make Sunny Side EggsWeek 7Lesson 7SconesScone flavors are so varied. In this lesson your student will learn how to make their own scones and learn about other things they can add to create different flavors.Week 8Lesson 8Jalapeno & Cheddar Cheese BiscuitsStudents will learn how to make their own biscuits from scratch. A little cheese and jalapeno make this biscuit a delicious side.Week 9Lesson 9QuicheEveryone should learn how to make a quiche. Your student will learn how to make the crust from scratch and how to bake up this delicious brunch item.Week 10Lesson 10Cream of Wheat with Homemade GranolaStudents will not only learn how to make this nutrition dense breakfast, but they will also learn how to make their own granola to top it with.Week 11Lesson 11Breakfast Grits BowlStudents will learn how to make this breakfast dish that they can customize to their own tastes.Week 12Lesson 12Cinnamon Roll Loaf BreadIn this lesson students will bake up Cinnamon Roll Bread to serve as a side for breakfast

My second degree is in Culinary Arts and I graduated from Le Cordon Bleu Miami. Since graduation, some of my industry experience includes cooking at a Disney Resort as well as Catering for Aramark. I have also owned my own catering and cake business. I have taught cooking and baking classes to both adults and kids online and in person. I enjoy baking and cooking in my kitchen. I also enjoy sharing my knowledge with kids, including my own elementary school son. Baking and Cooking are one of our favorite classes to do together in our homeschool. I am so excited to be able to share my knowledge and look forward to seeing your student in class!

The recipe that will be posted with each lesson and contains a supply list. The supply list will list everything your student needs to have in place before cooking. For example, gathering ingredients, bowls, baking dishes, measuring cups etc. Usually these items are already in your kitchen.

While kitchen safety will be addressed, parental supervision is recommended for students who are not familiar with the use of the oven, stove top, knives and other kitchen equipment we will use. If your student has any allergies and you need a recipe with substitutions, please contact me for a personalized recipe.
