Class Experience

US Grade 10 - 12
Welcome to The Book Worm Reading Club! The goal of this club is to make time to read books and to discuss all things book with fellow bookworms! This is no typical book club.

Each week learners will bring a book they are currently reading. We will spend the first 15 minutes of class reading our book. This can be any book of their choosing. While they read, learners are encouraged to write down unfamiliar words and jot down quick notes or thoughts they have while reading. If students are unfamiliar with how to do this then we will talk about different ways to annotate while reading. After reading, learners will spend 10 minutes discussing their books. They will share their thoughts on their books and we will look up unfamiliar words together. During the last 5 minutes learners will be encouraged to talk about their favorite book genres, give and get book recommendations, talk about their favorite authors, and discuss books that are about to be released that they are excited for.

This club is learner lead. That means all discussions and topics will come directly from the learners themselves. That is why it is so important that they come with a book to read and be ready to share their thoughts on their books. The teacher will guide the flow of the conversation and keep learners on topic.

This club will provide a safe space for bookworms to come and read, share thoughts and opinions on books, and be with other bookworms.
