US Grade 4 - 7
It’s no secret I adore Elvis Presley. In fact, I have a miniature dachshund named Presley! In this class we’ll start at the childhood of Elvis Presley with his parents, looking at his life in Tupelo and Memphis. Then we’ll move into his early career and his quick rise to stardom and delve into some of his music and movies! We’ll finish with his untimely death and the incredible legacy he’s left behind. Did I mention I adore Elvis? 🤣 Class structure is a quick meet and greet time, followed by a PowerPoint class (where students mute their microphones), followed by a question and answer period! This class is typically around an hour and a half long, but can go long depending on how many questions the students have at the end of the class, but you’re always welcome to leave when you need!
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Nothing too intense. I briefly talk about Elvis’ addiction to prescription medicine, but don’t go too into detail.
Supply List
The student may want a pencil and paper to write down any questions they may come up with for the Q&A time!
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Sources
I utilize many books and websites when researching and cross referencing my classes. In this particular class I used books Last Train to Memphis: The Rise of Elvis Presley by Peter Guralnick and Elvis: A Biography by Jerry Hopkins along with MANY other Elvis books in my collection that I can list out at parent’s request. I also used websites biography.com, britannica.com, history.com, and Smithsonian.com.
