Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I’m Phyllis Kelly and I am so looking forward to working with you and your child!
I love children and I love to teach! My classes are designed around helping children to become the best person that they can be. I teach classes on social skills and decision making as well as some of my favorite passions such as animals, children’s books, Disney princesses, science, and nature. In my classroom we learn and have fun! We do this through stories, songs, chants, discussions and making a craft or doing an activity sheet.
I have worked in public schools as a School Counselor for 30 years. I currently teach English to children online. I have a BS degree in Psychology with a minor in Special Education and a MA degree in Counseling Psychology. I am a National Board Certified Counselor and presently volunteer for The Guardian Ad Litem program. I have taught elementary students in reading, math and writing using many modalities to enhance learning.
I believe all children love to learn and can learn. I also believe children learn in many different ways. We as teachers must explore and continue to strive to teach each student in a way that they learn best.
Besides teaching, I love spending time with my family, my husband, my son and daughter who by the way are all TEACHERS!! :) We have 3 dogs and 1 cat who are also part of our family. I love to sing, travel, and love watching most any sport. Of course our goddaughters are our most precious gifts that I enjoy tremendously! I am from North Carolina and cheer for all my sports teams here!
Join me in the classroom! :)
