The lesson will be a guided group discussion about what an apology is. The topic will remain anchored to the topic, but will include genuine input and participation from students. Initially, we will discuss: - What is the purpose of an apology? - Who gives the apology and to whom? - When is an apology appropriate? - Why are people motivated to give an apology? After learning about the dynamics of an apology, we will also discuss: - Ideal language to use in an apology - Appropriate tone of voice - Eye contact and body language - How to self-reflect to identify how to do better next time After discussing and learning about these topics we will role-play with each other and practice the newly learned skill. Lastly, we will sum up what was learned in the lesson. We will review when and why it is important to apologize. We will also review the physical and emotional dynamics of a good apology.
