US Grade 5 - 7
Each week students will practice a different writing method or genre. Each class will begin with a quick mini-lesson on the genre or method of writing for the week. Students will then be given a prompt. The class will work together to brainstorm ideas. The final part of class will be focused on getting students started on their writing. Students will improve their writing by practicing different methods and genres. Students will practice poems, short stories, informative essays, opinion essays, and persuasive essays.
I have a BA in Creative Writing. I am working on revising and editing my first novel and drafting my second novel. I love the creative process of Writing and I love teaching it. I have taught many writing lessons to elementary school students and have tutored in writing as well (elementary through high school).
Homework Offered
Optional: -Learners may choose to complete the writing that they started in class -Learners may choose to turn in their writing for feedback0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

The Book Review and Movie Review Days are days that require the graphic organizer. These two types of writing are quite formulaic and require a specific format. Single Learner Classes: - Single learner classes will go ahead as scheduled unless learner and family request otherwise. - If the lesson ends early, learners will have writing time at the end of class.
