Welcome to the ArKIDecture Academy! In this three day camp, students will design their own house. Before we jump into floor plans (which everyone loves to do! Me included!), we will discuss brainstorming, sketching, and drafting to help evolve our designs before we draw floor plans and elevations. Day 1: Schematic Design As a class we will work together on brainstorming, bubble diagrams, and post-it plans. I will demonstrate each process and work with each student on their individual design. Day 2: Drafting As a class, we will discuss basic symbols used in both floor plans and elevations. I will share examples and they will begin practicing on their own floor plan. Day 3: Design Development As a class we will discuss the relationship between plans and elevations. We will work together on sketching their unique designs. I will encourage class interaction, sharing of ideas, and open question/dialogue throughout class. I love to incorporate fun and laughter into my classes while maintaining clear goals and expectations. Each student will finish class with newfound knowledge of residential architecture. This class may move quicker or slower than anticipated based on the needs of the individual students. Questions, conversations, and sharing are handled gently and respectfully by the teacher.

Parental guidance is suggested should the student use glue or scissors.
Supply List
Students Supply list is as follows: 8-10 sheets of white 8 1/2 x 11 plain paper Pencil (bring extra or a have a sharpener close by) Marker (I will use black but any color will work - we will use them for outlining our sketches) Eraser Ruler Post its or similar (preferably 2"x1" or 3"x3") - index cards and tape can work as well.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
