This flexible schedule class will explore the American Revolution in a kid-friendly way. As a flex class, we will not meet live! Each week will be a flexible schedule. We will study the following topics over the course of 4 weeks: Week 1: Road to Revolution Week 2: The American Revolution: 1775-1777 Week 3: The American Revolution: 1778- 1781 Week 4: The Treaty of Paris, 1783 and a New Country Students will demonstrate their learning through participation in the weekly classroom activities (no live meetings). *This is a flexible schedule class. Each lesson will be delivered via a prerecorded video that will be uploaded into the classroom every week. Each week, students will be assigned an initial reflective activity to complete related to the prerecorded video. Each video lesson will require students to share out what they learned and ask questions pertaining to the video lesson, posting in the Outschool classroom. Each student will be required to comment on activity postings at least once each week, as directed by the activity, throughout the course in order to to develop a sense of community in the class. The instructor will be available to help and will provide individual feedback throughout the course. By the end of the 4 weeks, students will: Demonstrate and strengthen abilities to present historical information. Strengthen note-taking skills. Compare/contrast/synthesize and analyze information. Exercise critical thinking and communication skills in formal and informal discussions.
