In this one time art class, young artists will learn to draw and paint a turkey using pencil, markers and watercolor paints. The artwork can be made with Thanksgiving in mind, or as a Fall decoration. This class will be structured as a paint-along-with-me class. I will give students an overview of the project, and then guide the project by demonstrating each step of the way. We will start with sketching the shape of the turkey and talking about shapes, size and proportion. Then, artists will ink their sketch of the turkey. A sharpie marker is recommended because it is waterproof. Finally, we will paint using watercolor paints and add color and detail to our turkey. My teaching style is relaxed, and I encourage learners to approach art in their own ways and to learn by creating. Learners will interact with me and with each other throughout class. I will ask many questions, offer encouragement, and guide young artists along the way. At the end of class, we will have a group discussion and show our artworks to each other. Great for beginner or intermediate artists.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Art and Design from The College of New Jersey
Hello! I am an Art Educator and Artist. I love teaching art to all ages, especially elementary school and middle school. My art classes include watercolor painting, acrylic painting, drawing, elementary art projects that work on skill building, and learning about art history through fun projects about artists - including Non-Western and Women artists.
I teach art from my heart and aim to build self esteem in my students through the arts. I challenge students to find their inner artist through creativity and self expression. I believe in the process of art, individual expression, creative thinking, and problem solving. Each art project is designed to develop technical skills, artistic interpretation, and unique artwork. We have lots of fun while making artwork and socializing is encouraged during my art classes.
My art background began as a child. I loved to learn how to paint or draw anything and everything. After receiving a BFA in Graphic Design, I became a children's textile designer in the fashion industry in NYC. While in New York, I attended fine arts classes at the Art Student's League and The New School. I moved to New York State's Hudson Valley, and am inspired daily by the landscapes and nature around me. I also am inspired by my pet cats, who may visit the classroom once in a while.
