In this one time class, students will search the fairgrounds to find the missing turkeys, then work together to solve 1st and 2nd grade word problems to complete the riddle and gather them up for Farmer John.

This one time Thanksgiving themed class will challenge students to solve a variety of math problems, using an escape room format. Students will work together to find turkeys hidden on the fairgrounds in order to find the math questions and solve the riddle. They must find all of the turkeys and solve the riddle in 30 minutes. Math problems are at first and second grade level and involve a variety of concepts including addition and subtraction, data, time, money, and simple geometry. Students will be encouraged to interact with peers to solve the problems; teacher will ask guiding questions and offer possible strategies if the group is stuck.
