Class Experience

In this one time interactive class, students will help Mario learn to tell time to the minute. Students will briefly review the basic parts of an analog clock and telling time to the hour. Students will then be introduced to telling time to the minute. Students will learn how to read the time using an analog and digital clock. Students will learn how to write the time using a colon (12:34). The learners will briefly learn about the concept of AM and PM. This class will be taught using Google Slides and an analog clock. Students will be asked to participate and answer questions throughout the lesson if they feel comfortable doing so. I encourage all learners to bring their own analog clock to class if they have one available.

I suggest a basic concept of telling time for this class. You can check out my previous classes where I teach telling time to the hour, half-hour, and to the quarter hour.

This is one lesson out of a four part series. If you are interested, that series includes telling time to the hour, half-hour, to the quarter hour, and to the minute.

*I have attached a printout of a clock shape with minute marks. Many students benefit from filling out their own clock. It helps them better identify and recall where the minutes are on a clock. This is not a necessary resource. Many students bring their own clocks to class. I am making it available per multiple request. I have also included a clock with the minutes labeled incase your learner would like a hard copy to look at during class.

*This is not an interactive Mario game. Mario and friends are pictured on my slides.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Welcome! My name is Rebecca Lockhart. I have my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and I am a certified teacher for grades K-8. I have taught all subjects in the public schools, ESL (English as a Second Language) online, and I currently homeschool my three children ages 5-11. I also teach a Nature Studies course in my area and facilitate two book clubs on a weekly basis.

I began my teaching career nineteen years ago. It is difficult for me to narrow down my favorite subjects. I just enjoy teaching. I guess if I had to peg down a few, my favorite subjects would include grammar, reading, math, and history. I started my own book club over six years ago to feed my love of consuming books. I recently began a book club for my oldest child and several of her friends to help them find great novels and learn skills to help increase their reading ability, comprehension and enjoyment. I love to write. Many call me a grammar nerd. I have dreams of being an author when I grow up. ;) Math is a skill I am passionate about. I believe a solid foundation early on can really help a learner succeed in math the rest of their life. I am also passionate about Nature Study and learning about the world around us. I believe, in a world full of technology, that it is essential and very beneficial for students to get outdoors and observe the world around them.

I have been teaching online since spring of 2019 and I joined Outschool in the summer of 2020.
I enjoy meeting students from all around the globe. Once you have been in my class, you will realize I'm upbeat, maybe a little silly at times, but I am excited to get my students to learn and most importantly love learning.

I hope to see your child soon!
