Intermediate Level
In this course, students will learn what it means to have a digital footprint as we explore online safety and responsibility. We will be using Julia Cook's book "The Technology Tail" to guide our discussion about being mindful of the things we say online to and about our peers as well as the information we share on the internet. At the beginning of this class, we will get to know each other. Then, I will read the book aloud. The rest of this class will be discussion based, allowing students to share what they learned as well as their ideas regarding how to be safe online. As students are sharing, I will be creating a digital anchor chart detailing student ideas about maintaining a responsible and respectful digital footprint that I will share out to families after class. Students will be able to interact with one another as well as me throughout the discussion portion of this class. All students need is some experience with being online, even if that is just Google Classroom, SeeSaw, or another learning platform.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to be safe, responsible, and respectful online.
