US Grade 6 - 9
Intermediate Level
In this course, students will learn about all different types of energy production--clean and otherwise--from an actual nuclear engineer! Each week we will talk about a different energy production method and talk about how it works, the life cycle of the fuel, byproducts produced, and overall environmental effects of the particular energy production method. Each week the students will be provided with a Nearpod lesson each week. The lesson will include a collaboration board where the students can compare their knowledge on the subject. There will also be a lecture video with lots of information about the particular subject, such as basic information regarding the energy production method, fuel, and design; pros and cons to the method; usage information globally; and more! Students will also be prompted to discuss the method in the classroom about whether or not they think it is a good method, comparing it to other methods, etc. Each week, we will talk about a different production method.
