This ongoing class meets 2X weekly. I will teach learners phonics, the fundamentals of reading, writing and spelling. "Teach Me to Read, Write & Spell - Small Group Instruction" is great for beginner readers, learners wanting to improve their skills and perfect for ESL learners who want to improve their English skills as a second or third language. I LOVE teaching children. Before I became a Principal, as a Teacher, I taught in both elementary and middle school/junior high, but I LOVE teaching young learners. I taught kindergarten and third grade for a number of years, as well as every grade in between. I enjoy seeing young learners work hard to achieve new levels, watching them as they begin to read words, write their names and other words, spell and grow into their own self. I especially love seeing their expression when they "get it," the aha movement/s. I am excited to be present in the Outschool community, working with young learners and helping them develop a love for reading and learning. In "Teach Me to Read, Write & Spell - Small Group Instruction," your learner will be engaged in each activity, have plain ol' FUN learning as they develop a love for reading, learning, achieving and succeeding. ○ Learners are encouraged to read 5-8 minutes each day ○ Learners are encouraged to practice skills taught in class at home after each lesson ○ Learners should complete any Teacher assignments posted in the classroom0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

Learners supplies include: ○ magnetic dry erase whiteboard ○ dry erase marker/s ○ dry erase eraser [old clean sock or rag] ○ 2 complete sets of magnetic alphabet letters A-Z [upper and lower case] ○ writing paper with lines ○ pencil
Parents, safety is a major priority for me and each learner. Please be aware that young learners will be using a magnetic white board with dry erase markers for some of their writing. If your child has an allergy or intolerance to dry erase markers, please let me know and we'll find an alternate writing tool.
