Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7

 Week 1
Lesson 1
Welcome Day 1! Introductions and Learn Song 1 on Ukulele - Cruel Summer
In our first day, we will have a short time of introduction for our students. Students will introduce themselves to one other, discuss their favorite Taylor Swift era, and give a brief overview of their musical background. After this, we will jump right into learning our first song, Cruel Summer. Students will learn to play the song on the ukulele, being taught the chords needed to play the song. At the end of class, we will play the song the whole way through.
Lesson 2
Day 2! Learn How to Sing Cruel Summer, and Start Song 2 - Lover
Students will then begin working on singing Cruel Summer. Going over how to properly use our breath and follow the pitch of the song. Learners will then play the song on ukulele as they sing along with their playing. We will work on tempo, pitch, and cadence throughout the end of the session. We will then move into learning our second song, Lover.
Lesson 3
Day 3! Learn Song 3 on Ukulele and Vocally - ME!
In this lesson, learners will begin learning their third song of the camp on the ukulele, ME! We will learn the chords we need to play each section of the song and review the layout of the song. Learners will then play the song the whole way through on the ukulele to ensure that they have an understanding of the music. We will then begin working on ME! vocally. Going over our pitch and breath. Learners will end this class by playing the song on the ukulele and singing along with it.
  • Students will improve their ukulele-playing abilities, as well as their vocal performance. By the end of our class, students will be able to play three different songs on the ukulele in the proper tempo, using the right chords and strumming pattern. They will be able to accompany themselves with their instrument as the sing-along, with proper pitch and breath control, to all three songs.
My Teaching Style:
My goal as a teacher is to make each student feel seen, loved, appreciated, and encouraged throughout our class time. I desire each student to leave class feeling better and brighter than when they logged in. I believe in positive encouragement, and helping my students find their confidence in who they are, along with making sure they have fun during our time together.
I graduated with a bachelor's in Psychology, specifically focused on adolescent Psychology. Bringing this information into my classrooms helps me to connect with the students, grow their social abilities, understand where they are within their formative years, and create a more inviting and safe environment for every student to learn.

I have a bubbly, bright, and fun personality, and I love to spend time connecting with kids to help them grow. It is one of my greatest joys to get to teach. Teaching music classes is near to my heart, as I remember being a young student eager to learn more about the very thing I loved most, music. I desire to only grow that love in our students as they learn new things musically.
