Beginner Level
In this 8-week class, each lesson will include a tap warmup, a focused tap skill, group practice, and individual practice. Students may book a private session with me, if more practice is desired. Weekly Warmup: Step, Stamp, Stomp, Flap, Shuffle, Toe and Heel Drops, Toe and Heel Digs, Cramp Roll, Ball Change, Paradiddle (aka Paddle and Roll) Focused Weekly Skills: (Lesson 1): Shuffle Ball Change (Lesson 2): Riffs (3 pt and 5 pt) (Lesson 3): Irish (Lesson 4): Essence (Lesson 5): Maxi Ford (Lesson 6): Alexander (aka Shirley Temple, Broadway, etc.) (Lesson 7): Drawback (Lesson 8): Time Step

Parental Guidance
Parents are responsible for the safety of their student/s. A space of at least 4 feet by 4 feet must be clear of any trip hazards or dangerous objects. Tap shoes required. No socks or bare feet.

Personal Responsibility:
You are responsible for creating a safe and appropriate environment for your participation, including wearing proper attire, using non-slippery surfaces, and ensuring adequate space. If at any point you feel discomfort, dizziness, or pain, you should stop immediately and seek medical advice.

While the instructor provides guidance and modifications, it is your responsibility to gauge your ability to perform the exercises. Any modifications or variations are to be performed at your own risk.

Supply List
Students will need: - Tap floor - Tap shoes - cleared space for dancing (at least 4' x 4') Learners may begin class without tap shoes but for best results, please plan to purchase a pair - can be used or new. Learners must NOT tap dance on carpeted areas. CAUTION: Tap shoes will DAMAGE any hard surface. Portable tap floors can be purchased online but as an inexpensive alternative, a piece of 4' x 4' smooth plywood free of splinters can also work for this class.

Mrs. Amber started tapping at age 8. She has been teaching beginner through advanced tap since 2016! Amber uses "backward planning" for her lessons because it ensures that every step of the learning process is focused on achieving clear, meaningful outcomes. We'll focus on a skill and work from the smallest step up to the final result, ensuring your new tapper truly understands each component of the skill.
