Class experience
Beginner Level
A class designed just for your learner! They will have the teachers full attention, so they can get the most benefit from the dance class. We will begin class with some warm up movements to music, to exercise our muscles and get us into a dance fun mood. We will then move on to practicing some basic steps, learning to count the steps then putting the steps to music. By the end of each class, we will be able to put a short combination of steps to some music. I aim to make classes as much...
Students will learn some tap dancing steps. How to put the steps to music, and gain confidence in themselves.
I trained in ballet, tap and modern jazz in England, UK. I have qualifications in RAD advanced ballet (UK) / ISTD tap and modern (UK) I worked for many years as a professional dancer myself and I have choreographed and taught tap, jazz and ballet to many dancers that continued on to work professionally in theatre shows. I love teaching children and I am looking forward to sharing some of my techniques with my new learners.
Your learner dancer needs to be wearing comfortable clothing that they can easily move in. Please have a large enough space for your dancer to move and turn around freely without fear of bumping into something or knocking something over. Please ensure any shoes with laces have the laces tied firmly to avoid stepping on them by accident. NOTE: An optional extra for TAP dancing - a tapping board or a wooden board or panel or something similar that doesn't bend when jumped on, is great for tap dancing on. My board that I use in class is from the local hardware store and measures appx. 35 x 45 inches. Please have drinking water on hand too, as the dancers may become thirsty during their activities.
