US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Beginner Level
Students will learn vocabulary for basic food items in Mandarin Chinese along with common grammar patterns and question/answer patterns and descriptive words used to talk about food in Chinese. Conversation in the target language will be between both student-student and teacher-student. Activities and games will be used such as matching games and board games. Video links will be provided for review between classes. Writing sheets in simplified Chinese will be provided for those who would like to participate in the writing portion. Traditional Chinese is available upon request.

Week 1: Basic food vocabulary and the question, "what do you want to eat?“
Week 2: Words to describe food such as 'tasty', 'hot', 'cold', etc. and the question "How is it?"
Week 3: Drink vocabulary and the verbs 'to be hungry' and 'to be thirsty'
Week 4: Combine everything learned

Youtube video links will be provided but students are not required to login nor create an account with Youtube.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Our teachers are either native Chinese speakers, have an advanced degree in Chinese and experience teaching, or have lived in a Chinese speaking country extensively and have experience teaching Chinese. Our teachers have a wide range of experience that match them to their respective class groups. Our courses include the use of music, technology, games, culture and learning through play. Each course is designed with age-specific targets and resources. Much research and evaluation is continually embedded into our curriculum to make it as effective and efficient as possible.
