The course lasts for five weeks. 🔸Each of the five weeks will include a photo assignment related to that week's lesson. Students will upload their homework photos to the Outschool classroom to present and discuss with the teacher and fellow classmates. 🔸You'll also receive a multi-page PDF that you'll need to print prior to the beginning of our first class. This document includes the outline for the class as well as space for guided note-taking. It will be an awesome reference for you to use after you’ve completed the course. 🔸I will be available throughout the week via the Outschool platform to answer any questions you might have about your specific camera or that week's work. 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗦𝗘 𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪: Want to know how to take more professional-looking photos with your DSLR camera? Want to know how to get sharp images that are in-focus and not blurry? Want to know how to blur the background while keeping the subject of your photo nice and crisp? Want to know how to freeze a hummingbird's wings or show a runner in motion? Want to be able to pick up your camera and know what settings you need to change to get the effects you want? If so, read on! This is a deep dive into how to use your DSLR camera to help you achieve your creative vision. It's for you if you have a genuine interest in photography and are honestly serious about learning how to use your DSLR camera as the powerful tool that it is. The class is very hands-on, and you'll frequently be pausing the video to pick up your camera and change a variety of settings to try out different camera features. Everything builds on everything else, so if you pay attention to the lessons and participate in the hands-on exercises with your camera, you'll do great! Beginners are welcome in this class, as I assume zero prior knowledge. Even if you just took your camera out of the box yesterday, this class is for you. That doesn't mean the class is a cakewalk, though! We'll start from the very basic how-tos and move into more technical concepts as we proceed through the five weeks. Learning Goals
By the end of the course, you'll know how to confidently use your camera in manual mode as well as the various automatic and partially automatic modes.
Technically, that means you'll understand ISO, shutter speed, aperture, how to change each of them and why you would want to. You'll understand how to use manual focus and auto focus, how to choose the right lens for a given situation, and will have an understanding of most of the buttons and dials you see on the camera body.
