There will not be any homework but I do expect and hope that my students will continue to draw and create art even when they are not in class me!Class Experience
In this class students will be learning fun art skills taught to them by a professional street artist and elementary art teacher Mr. Sweeney. This class will cover multiple elements of art such as line, shape, color, and form, students will learn art history, and color theory, all while creating fun beautiful works of art. We will work on cartooning, figure drawing, PopArt, and how to even write and draw like a graffiti artist. My class sizes will be small and only go up to 18 students so I will be able to give every student attention and help every student become a great artist. My teaching philosophy is that if my students are having fun and I'm having fun then everyone is going to learn and have a great time! I have been teaching art for 10 years, and when I'm not teaching art I'm traveling the east coast painting murals and having art shows. my goals are to have all my students loving art as much as I do! Weekly project break down: (week 1.) : Introductions "Selfies" students will be drawing a self portrait with them wearing some crazy cool sunglasses. > with this project students will need pencils, crayons, markers, scissors, glue, and paper. (week 2.) Art that POPs "Pop-Art sweet treats" This is one of my favorite lessons students will learn about pop art and how the use or color can make a picture look amazing! students will learn how to draw a 3d doughnut. > For this lesson students will need Paper, Pencils, crayons/colored pencils, black marker, small plate or bowl. ( week 3.) Designs/lines/creativity "lines that wiggle" students will be creating a crazy cool fun abstract art. Students will be learning about the many different types of lines, patterns, and color. > For this lesson all students will need is a black marker, crayons, and paper. (week 4.) Folding surprise art. "Surprise art" if we have time we will do multiple projects today but our main lesson will be one that is 4th of July themed. students will make a surprise fold drawing of a firework, that when folded looks like a bottle rocket but when unfolded looks like an explosion..... if we have time we will do one with a big mouthed fish, and talk about other creative ideas for fold up projects. > For this lesson all students will need is markers, crayons, paper, and a pencil. (Week 5.) learning colors, lines, and patterns "come fly with me" Students will be creating a beautiful pattern filled hot air balloon drawing. We will use things we learned from previous drawings to make this fun colorful project. > For this lesson students will need a small plate/bowl to make a circle, they will need pencils, markers, crayons, and paper.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello ARTISTS!
My Name is Christopher Sweeney, I have been teaching Elementary Art for the past ten years, but when I’m not in the classroom teaching art I’m traveling around the country making art working as a contemporary street artist. I have painted multiple large murals all over the east coast. You might have seen some of my work in galleries, magazines, newspapers, and even featured in the Wynwood ultimate street art coloring book.
I’m here on OUTSCHOOL to teach fun creative art lessons to students of all ages. I will have art lessons that are fun, easy, and most importantly they will be lessons that student’s will be able to use every day art supplies that can be found in most homes. I specialize in Pop-Art, Cartooning, and watercolor painting.
I can’t wait to share my love for art with all of you!
