Swashbuckler's Summer Camp: A Pirate Adventure

In this 6-week camp, students will meet once a week to learn about a pirate's life! We will have fun crafting, playing games, and speaking pirate. So ahoy matey, join us for a swashbucking good time!

Class Experience

Embark on a swashbuckling journey filled with treasure hunts, pirate speak, and mysteries.  Our pirate-themed summer camp lets students learn essential pirate skills, and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Week 1:  Pirate Orientation
*Introduction to Pirate Life - learn about pirate life
*Create Pirate Names - each camper chooses their pirate name
*Craft Time - students will create personalized pirate hats

Week 2:  Treasure Map Making
*Cartography 101 - learn about maps and navigation
*Design Treasure Maps - campers create their own treasure maps with hidden treasures
*Treasure Hunt - use what they have learned about maps to find a hidden treasure

Week 3:  Pirate Tales and Legends
*Pirate Writing - create your own pirate story
*Directed Drawing - draw a pirate to go with your story

Week 4:  Pirate Language and Code
*Learn Pirate Lingo - master common pirate phrases and expressions
*Solve a Pirate Code - decipher a puzzle using a key

Week 5:  Pirate Mysteries
*Solve a Mystery - use a "telescope" to solve a mystery
*Pirate Riddles - solve riddles using your pirate inferencing skills

Week 6:  Pirate Animals
*Meet the Pirate Pets - learn about animals commonly associated with pirates, such as parrots, monkeys, and dolphins
*Create Pirate Pet Crafts - Make a pet themed craft
Learning Goals
Students will learn some fun information about pirates, all while practicing their reading and writing skills.  They will also learn basic map skills and vocabulary, as well as practicing inferencing.

Supply List
Students will need basic school supplies (pencil, paper, glue, scissors, and crayons).  Anything that might need printing will be provided at least 3 days before the class.
