Class Description "Sustainable Communities" teaches elementary students about the principles of sustainability and how individuals and communities can work together to create resilient and vibrant environments. Students will explore SDGs 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) through activities like sustainability scavenger hunts, waste audits, and upcycling projects. This course aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable practices in their daily lives and communities. Class Experience Students will participate in a variety of activities designed to teach them about sustainability and community involvement. Over four weeks, they will explore the principles of sustainable living, conduct waste audits, and work on a sustainability project that benefits their community. The class is structured around hands-on activities, group discussions, and collaborative projects. I teach through a mix of interactive lessons, guided projects, and reflection activities. Students will have frequent opportunities to interact with me and their classmates through discussions, projects, and sharing their ideas. By the end of the course, they will have created a sustainable community vision for their future.
