In this one time course, your scholar will learn the first 10 actions they should take if ever lost or stranded in the wild. To achieve the best chance of survival these 10 actions are immediate things that can be done to stay safe and healthy. This class will cover: 1.Remaining in a Calm Mindset 2. Assessing the Survival Situation 3. Orientating Yourself with Your Surroundings 4. Utilizing Your Supplies and Environment 5. Finding and Sanitizing Water 6. Building a Fire 7. Signaling for Help 8. Knowing When to Look for Help and When to Wait 9. Finding Shelter 10. Surviving the Night As an Eagle Scout and avid outdoorsman I have spent the past 15 years of my life hiking, camping, exploring, and surviving. I am also a credential teacher with a masters in curriculum and instruction. By combining my knowledge of teaching and the outdoors I seek to educate your scholar on life saving practices. This class will be taught in ways that makes it engaging and exciting for students so that they can best learn the content. Using a slide deck presentation the majority of the class with consist of teaching using pictures, real world examples, questions, and dialogue. At the end of the lesson there will be a 5 question interactive trivia guessing game on the material learned in class. All of my classes are student centered and student paced. If a student needs more time on a topic we take that time. If a student is needed more challenging content I work to give them that. I am here for all learners.

Welcome! I'm Chris Hatch. I am a credentialed K-8 teacher with a bachelors in elementary education and a masters degree in curriculum and instruction.
I believe that every child has the potential to reach their academic and social emotional goals. It is my mission to assist every student in meeting those goals. My classes are inclusive, engaging, and fun! One of my greatest joys in teaching is to make the time I have with students exciting and purposeful.
I have been an educator for over 5 years. I have taught language arts, math, science, social studies, and social skills. I have also been an outdoor naturalist and STEM teacher. Nature, animals, plants and insects are on of my greatest passions.
In my free time, I enjoy scuba diving, hiking, drawing, writing and spending time with my wife, baby. and golden retriever.
