ZOOM SETUP: 1) Stage Picture! Every family must know how to position the camera properly so that each learner can be seen from head to toe on the screen. So in theater, this is called our “stage picture” and we use it often to make references when learning moves! In settings, blur filters should be disabled and” Original Sound” should be enabled. 2) Zoom’s Whiteboard & Chat Feature. Besides martial arts, we also practice DRAWING and watching superhero videos from YouTube. So parents should ensure that students know how to use Zoom’s whiteboard drawing and chat features for the optimal experience. Otherwise bring along a piece of paper and colors to draw with. Superhero Fitness explores the attributes of martial arts to express and strengthen the 3 Main Areas of the Body. Every week of the month represents an element of our training cycle: WEEK 1 - Upper Body Skills (Push-ups, Lightsabers & Cartwheels) WEEK 2 - Core Movement (Leg Raises, Spins & Rolls) WEEK 3 - Lower Body Skills (Squats, Kicks & Jumps) WEEK 4/5 - Full Body Flow (Review & Combos) Class Flow (15min each): Go Freeze Improv Game Skill Breakdown / Workout Superhero Video Discussion Superhero Anatomy Drawing We will study martial arts as seen in pop culture such as in Superhero movies, TV Shows, and video games. This means we’ll also learn specialty movements like Spider-man jumps, Jedi lightsaber skills, Batman kicks, Ninja Turtle teamwork, Super Mario parkour, and more are all a huge part of class! —CURRICULUM— The Superhero Fitness curriculum is comprised of: - Art & Cinematography based on Superheroes aka “Superhero Of The Week” - Origami & DIY Crafts inspired by ninjas aka “Martial Arts & Crafts” - Fitness & Injury Prevention for the 3 Main Areas of the Body aka “The Vibranium Method” - Martial Arts, theatricality, camera awareness, and AV games aka “Spider Sense Reflexes” Every week’s superhero or martial arts theme is decided by vote the week prior and reoccurring votes rollover in the queue for the following week. Common themes are: Spider-Man & The Sinister Six Marvel Avengers & X-Men DC Justice League & Teen Titans TMNT Super Mario Sonic the Hedgehog Super Smash Bros & Pokémon Ben 10 Anime —STRUCTURE— - This class is structured into two parts: a) movement b) superhero arts n craft activity —TEACHING STYLE— Set: Coach Eurico teaches from both California public parks, indoor gymnastic facilities, or from home. Repetition is what we stress the most in order to see results. So to facilitate this sometimes difficult endeavor, Coaches like to practice movements in a variety of ways (holding something, adding moves together, multitasking, wearing something new, putting it in a story, challenging speed, etc) Coaches also congratulate and spotlight students with excellent focus. Often times students will have the liberty to call on themselves to speak unless there is too much commotion. In that case, the class is asked to raise their hands to be called on after someone else is done talking. Coaches also gives regular comprehension quizzes once a month to gauge understanding of recent exercises so that they don’t aren’t forgotten! —INTERACTION— Students will interact with the coaches by answering superhero and martial arts related questions, and by showing their awesome moves! Suggestions are welcome in class for superhero movements! So prior knowledge of a few superheroes and supervillains is recommended! Best for high-energy kids interested in sports and art! This is a class is taught by a high energy coach!!
