Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 4
In this on-going class, students will read one book a week in the Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew mysteries. Eight year old Nancy has some cases to crack! She will need the help of her two best friends, George and Bess. Can you help too? We will meet once a week for each book. When we come together there will be discussions about the book of the week that they have read before class and working on comprehension skills such as main idea, characters, details, problems, authors purpose, etc. After each class, the students will be reminded of the next book to read. If someone enrolls after the start of the book, information will be given to them as to what book to read for that week. I feel that reading, both alone or with a group, has an impact on who we are and how we interact with the world around us. No matter the students’ ages, or whether it is in a small group setting or large group discussion, conversing about books tends to turn into conversations about being human. Book clubs give each learner a sense of belonging and provides connections in many ways. My ultimate goal is to design a positive, affirming experience each time we come together.
** My teaching style is organized and full of fun while being relaxed and friendly at the same time. So come be a part of my class!

This class will meet weekly. Students will be expected to have read the book for that week in order to discuss in each class. The book we will cover will be updated weekly.
**Your student will read the first book before our first meeting together. :)
**There will be worksheets to complete before each meeting to discuss together in class about what they read. This will be sent with the weekly email from me. :)
