US Grade 2 - 5
In this one time class students will engage in a friendly Kahoot trivia game about Super Mario Bros. games and characters. This is not a super easy trivia game. This is set up to be challenging and best suited for kids who have a good amount of knowledge of all things Mario. All questions are multiple choice and include true or false questions, name that character questions, and open ended poll questions so we can discuss some of our favorite Mario topics! Students can start their Kahoot game on their computer if they know how to make it split screen or they can play on a separate device. There is no need for them to already have a Kahoot account setup, I will give them the game code and they will be able to play! This game is not meant to be super competitive, it is more for all of us to test our Mario knowledge and push ourselves to learn more. My class setting is a relaxed, fun, open space for students to be able to discuss and express their thoughts about what we are learning. I encourage student interaction with not only myself but with their fellow classmates. Everyone is expected to be respectful and listen to one another but also feel like they have the ability to share their own thoughts and opinions. I believe learning should be fun and try to provide a space for that to happen.
Learning Goals
Students will find like-minded kids who have similar interests and be able to discuss some of their favorite topics relating to Mario. Students will have the opportunity to both present their opinions and learn how to support those statements through careful thought. In this trivia game, students will also develop an understanding of good sportsmanship.

Bachelor's Degree from University of California Riverside
Hi! I love to teach classes that are fun and promote discussion and creativity. In all of my classes I mix critical thinking with out of the box thinking so that the kids learn something brand new! I find the best way to do this is by using books, video games, trivia and other interactive components to keep them engaged and wanting to learn.
My passion for critical thought stems from my degree in Philosophy. The integration of pop culture in my classes is rooted in a lifetime of toy collecting, video game playing, and during my time as a staff writer for an online comic book review site. Over the past five years I have created community-based, pop-up craft classes for parents and children that integrate culture and thought, and I am excited about the opportunity to share these types of activities with my students!
Outside of teaching I enjoy spending time with my husband, son, two cats and puppy! I love online gaming and spending a lot of time crafting.
