Class Experience

This is a Flexible Schedule class. There are NO LIVE MEETINGS.
In this intermediate knitting course, learners will explore different stitch patterns through a knit sampler towel. Learners taking this course should have a basic knowledge of casting on, knitting the basic knit and purl stitches and casting off knit wise. These skills will be applied in different combinations throughout the project to create different patterns in the finished towel. We will be working from a pattern drafted exclusively for this course by the instructor.
Each week I will post a video introducing the featured technique, followed by an explanation and demonstration of the featured technique. Students will post or message a video or photos of their work in each stage. I will host an Office Hours session weekly the day following the video posting to answer questions, trouble shoot issues and encourage and facilitate discussion among the learners.
In addition to the hosted office hours, we will all post pictures of our progress. Students can vote on which color yarn I will work with, and we will have a poll about what aspects are our favorite parts of knitting.
Each week will have a discussion thread and a welcome chat, followed by an explanation and demonstration of the featured technique. After the demonstration, each learner will have the opportunity to attempt the skill and submit a video for guidance for any difficulties. A video with each technique in isolation will be posted to the classroom after each weekly video presentation for quick and easy reference. Learners are encouraged to share progress in the classroom, and reach out for guidance if needed.

In our first week we will cast on and begin work in garter stitch.
In our second week we will introduce and work through the steps of moss stitch
In our third week we will introduce and work through the steps of a striped box stitch
In our fourth week we will introduce and work through the steps of mock rib stitch
In our fifth week we will introduce and work through the steps of a stockinette box stitch
In our sixth week we will introduce and work through the steps of a textured rib stitch
In our seventh week we will end the project back in garter stitch.
In our eighth and final week we will cast off knit wise and weave in our ends to finish our projects.
