How would you like to spend an hour enjoying the sights and sounds of summer? In this one-session story hour, I'll read aloud from great picture books and tell funny and interesting stories about summer that will make you think this is the best season of all! We'll start by swinging and frolicking and swimming with the kids in a delightful rhyming book about summer, see why a family of brothers and sisters wants to live outdoors, enjoy the funny antics of a cat and a boy, and head off to the beach (well, maybe . . .) While I read and we talk about the pleasures of summer together, you'll have pictures to print and color, we'll make ice cream together, and I'll share some fun surprises, too!
Learning Goals
An awareness of the season of summer, listening skills, and the opportunity to practice yielding and participating in group responses. I ask questions and engage each child, so they have a chance to chime in about the stories, their coloring, and the subject of summer.
