In the class students will develop the ability to understand and communicate in Spanish while playing games and having a ton of fun through reading short stories and class novels. Week 1Lesson 1Introductions, Calendar, Emotions, Weather, Discussion of Caribbean Region.Students will read chapters 1-2 of the class novel. Students will continue to learn present tense verb conjugations. Present tense verb structures will be reinforced during this novel. Practice vocabulary and structures in a variety of fun and engaging activities. This class is taught in Spanish.
Students will acquire the Spanish language naturally while having fun reading stories in Spanish, learning new vocabulary words, and playing traditional games to reinforce vocabulary. This class will help students become more fluent and confident in the language. This class will also help students prepare for the national AAPPl language test (I do not administer this exam). The AAPPL test Exam is used to assess a student's proficiency in the language. Students that score high enough will be awarded the bi literacy seal.
I have been a certified Spanish teacher for the past 25 years. I have a masters in education. I lived and studied in Spain for several years so I have a true Spanish accent (castellano). I have attended CI (comprehensible Input) conferences and implement the CI teaching strategy into my lessons.
Homework Offered
Optional flashcards, study guides and videos will be available. There will be minimal work to do outside of class, however, it is highly suggested that families encourage their children to practice the new vocabulary and concepts outside of the classroom. Practicing outside of class will give students the opportunity to relate the class material to their own life and environment which will help cement the new language in their brains.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Informal assessing will be used during class with optional writing and oral exam at the end of the course. Assessment rubrics are aligned with the ACTFL standards.Grades Offered

Students should have some exposure to the Spanish language.

Google Slides/Screensharing- Class will be delivered using Google presentations and screensharing. Conjuguemos- this site will be used to practice verb conjugation Youtube- I use this platform to share educational videos via screensharing. Quizlet will be used to offer students optional flashcard practice.
The novels will be utilized during this class. Books can be purchased at Wayside Publishing or Amazon if you would like your own copy. Youtube will be used to show videos. Google slides will be used to deliver class information.
