US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
Is your child ready to learn their letters and sounds? Are they a beginning kindergartener and you want them to get a jump start or have extra support to follow the classroom instruction? Maybe your child is in first grade and is still struggling to master their letters and sounds? Either way, this course is designed to support learners with researched based Science of Reading instruction to learn their letters and the sounds. This course is taught by a certified elementary teacher that has specialized training for teaching students reading. I have completed my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education, My Masters degree in Teaching Practices with a concentration in Early Childhood-Special and General Education, completed Literacy Support Training, ESL training, and LETRS training. I have 10+ years experience working with children in an educational setting. We will begin each course with phonological awareness skill practice. This includes hearing and manipulating sounds within words. Students need to have strong phonological awareness skills to become successful readers. We will then review previous learned letters and sounds. Students will learn new letters in each course to include the letter name, sound, and proper handwriting strokes. We will sing songs together, play interactive games, and use multi-sensory approaches. during our lessons together! This course includes letter exploration, phonological awareness, handwriting, and letter introduction.
Learning Goals
Students will learn phonolgical awareness skills, letter names and sounds, as well as handwriting during this ongoing course.
These skills are crucial for pre-readers to prepare for reading instruction in our next leveled course.
