Welcome to Summer Reading Book Club. This club is meant to help students with summer reading assignments. Each week, twice a week, for one hour each session, a new book will be discussed. Students will read the book before the start of class. During class they will be encouraged to discuss with their peers and with the teacher. The teacher will pose questions meant to help students with their assignments; the teacher will also help to explain themes and topics that are too confusing. The teacher will act as a facilitator. They will help the discussion move along but they will mainly let the students take control of the discussion. This will help students to become more independent. Each class will have a different content warning.
Learning Goals
Students will learn to be independent writers and readers. They will learn how to improve their media literacy skills. They will also learn how to improve their social skills by participating in discussions with their peers.
