Join me in learning some fiddle songs in this summer music camp! This class is for musicians who have played violin or viola for at least **one year**. This is not meant for beginner musicians. If you are a beginner and have questions about taking a class with me, please reach out! Perquisites include: -Instrument and bow should be in working condition -Be familiar with reading music -Be able to play with fingers 1, 2, and 3 in first position -Have a printer to print sheet music or another device to read from during class Over 3 classes, we will learn 3 familiar songs. We will review the key/scale required for each week, and go over any new or unfamiliar rhythms and notes before learning the song. Musicians will receive the music before each meeting. Summer Music Camp: Fiddle Songs: Day 1: Oats and Peas Day 2: Sourwood Mountain Day 3: Arkansas Traveler The class will move a little quickly to learn each song each day. Adjustments to the music and structure of the class may occur depending on the learners in the class. Each musician will be on mute while learning the songs and take turns playing for each other once we know the song near the end of each class. The chat is always open for questions and we will check in with each other frequently throughout the class. Please make sure each musician has their instrument tuned before we begin class, as we will not have time to individually tune during our time together. If you have questions about this or need assistance, please let me know.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Arizona Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
I teach individual, customized, viola or violin lessons. For as long as I can remember, music has been part of my life and I love sharing it with others!
I attended the University of Arizona and earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education with a Minor in Psychology. I taught for 10 years as a public school orchestra teacher in Arizona. During my time in various districts, the young musicians I worked with earned Superior Ratings at state festivals. I also had the privilege to conduct the 6th Grade Honor Orchestra as part of the Southern AZ Elementary/Junior High School Honor Orchestra Festival in 2018.
I am a proponent for collaborative efforts and person-centered learning. Every person has a voice and I believe that can be best expressed through music. Learners do best when there is a sense of mutual respect, a safe space, and an interest in them as an individual.
As a performer, I enjoy playing in various small group endeavors on viola and violin, and I love playing at weddings.
When I am not making music, I enjoy hiking, traveling, going to concerts, and eating delicious food.
